The 2017 NPD Trading Card Project

2017 Newark Police Department Trading Card Project

The City of Newark Police Department (NPD) kicked off its 2017 Trading Card Project on Thursday, May 4. Officers and civilian employees will each have over 1,000 cards to distribute to members of the public over the course of several weeks. The cards include photographs and biographies of employees as well as specialty cards that highlight police K9s, vehicles, specialized units, and historical facts of the NPD. The goal of the trading card project is to foster good community relations and to promote increased, positive interaction between residents and officers. The first 100 children to submit a complete set of 100 cards will be given an uncut poster of the project to take home with them. Upon turning in your complete set of 100 cards, you will then need to choose to participate in the raffle for a bicycle and helmet or a skateboard, helmet, elbow/knee/wrist guard pad package with 1 week skateboard camp. All raffle submissions will be eligible to win the Grand Prize of an all inclusive, including spending money, family (of 4) vacation to Walt Disney World in Orlando, FL.

Anyone is welcome to collect the Trading Cards, but to participate in the Card Collection Contest, you must be a child ages 5 years old to 12 years old and/or in kindergarten to sixth grade and you must either live in the City of Newark or attend a school in the City of Newark. Children of City of Newark employees are encouraged to collect cards but are not eligible to win any of the prize packages.

The Card Collection Contest begins on May 4, 2017 and ends June 11, 2017. A complete set of 100 cards can be turned in at the Newark Police Department (220 S. Main Street) Records Division Window on any Sunday or Monday between 3:30pm to 4:30pm during the Card Collection Contest (May 4, 2017 to June 11, 2017).

Prize winners will be drawn via raffle on June 12, 2017 by Chief Paul Tiernan or his designee. Prize winners will be notified June 12, 2017.  Prizes will be awarded on June 17, 2017 at the Newark Police Department during our 150th Anniversary Celebration (you do not need to be present on June 17, 2017 to claim your prize – but we would enjoy having you there).

Submitted complete sets of 100 cards can be picked up from the Newark Police Department at our 150th Anniversary Celebration on Saturday June 17, 2017 (if you are unable to pick up the set of cards at this event, the set of cards will be made available for pick up from the Newark Police Department at a later date).

Reasonable accommodations/substitutions will be made for a child who is a contest winner and has special needs (this will be handled on a case by case basis). Scheduling of the Grand Prize of an all inclusive, including spending money, family (of 4) vacation to Walt Disney World in Orlando, FL will be coordinated through AAA. If the Grand Prize family vacation cannot be completed by December 31, 2018, then the entire prize package will be forfeited. Trading cards cannot be sold/bought and cannot be cut from an uncut poster. Any/all taxes relative to the prize packages are the sole responsibility of the prize winner and/or their family.

Once a prize/award/coupon is redeemed, the City of Newark’s responsibility for such prize/award/coupon is concluded.
