About the Information Technology Division

The City’s Information Technology Division is responsible for managing server and network infrastructure, maintaining and enhancing the geographic information system, and providing internal application and desktop support for municipal staff as well as the Police Department.

In addition to the operation and maintenance of software and hardware systems, the IT division is also responsible for the design and implementation of new technology.

Future Vision

Safe and Smart Cities

The IT department worked with the Chesapeake Crescent Imitative (CCI) to identify areas where the city can optimize its operational performance. The recommendations resulting from this collaborative effort are detailed in this report.

Municipal Broadband

Our IT staff is currently researching the feasibility of installing and maintaining a broadband internet network in Newark as a public utility, similar to our water, wastewater and electric utilities. Click here, or visit cityofnewarkde.us/broadband for more information.
