Upper Christina River Restoration Project
Project Description
The City of Newark and Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC) are in the process of restoring portions of the Christina River. The project looks to address the issues of water quality, habitat loss, bank erosion, property loss, and tree loss that is occurring along the river channel. The City of Newark and DNREC are working to address these concerns by implementing proven stream restoration techniques to help stabilize the stream banks, improve habitat, water quality, and allow for better flow of water during storm events.
